📄 Academy's WYWIWYG — How to Use
Everything you need to know to capture, save, and convert web content.
Getting Started
After installing Academy's WYWIWYG, look for the 📄 icon in your Firefox toolbar. Click it to open the extension panel.

Click the Academy's WYWIWYG icon in your Firefox toolbar to open the panel.

Choose Start My Free 48-Hour Trial to try the extension at no cost, or click I Already Have a License Key to enter your key and activate immediately.

Navigate to any webpage you want to capture, then open the panel and choose your options.
Output Formats
Choose your format before capturing. The selected format button will highlight in blue.
Capture Options
Content
Text only — captures all readable text, headings, and links but skips images.
Text + Images — includes all visible images along with text and links.
Other Options
Preserve hyperlinks — keeps all clickable links in your saved file.
Clean output — removes navigation menus, ads, and other clutter.
📍 Capturing What You Want
Academy's WYWIWYG puts you in control of exactly what gets saved. Use Select Range to capture as little or as much as you need — from a single paragraph to an entire article. This works especially well on sites like Yahoo and MSN that have continuous scrolling pages with no natural end.

Choose your format and options in the panel, then click Select Range.

Click your start point at the top of the content you want — it highlights green.

Scroll down as far as you need, then click your end point — it highlights red and the capture runs automatically.

Choose your save location when prompted.
You decide where the capture starts and stops — scroll through an entire article or grab just one section. You're always in control of what gets saved.
🎯 Capture Selection
Captures only the text you have highlighted on the page.

Highlight the text you want on the webpage by clicking and dragging your mouse over it.

Open the Academy's WYWIWYG panel and click Capture Selection.

Choose where to save your file.
Keep your text highlighted before clicking the extension icon — clicking elsewhere on the page will deselect it.
📍 Select Range
Lets you pick a precise start and end point on the page by clicking, even across sections that require scrolling.

Click Select Range in the panel. A floating black control panel will appear on the page.

Click your start point on the page — the element will be highlighted in green.

Scroll down to your end point and click it — it will highlight in red and the capture begins automatically.

Choose your save location when prompted. After saving, click Reset Selection to pick a new area, or Close to dismiss the panel.
You can change the output format (Word, Text, HTM, PDF) directly in the floating panel before capturing.
📄 PDF to Word Converter
Converts an existing PDF file on your computer into an editable Word document.

Click Open PDF Converter at the bottom of the panel.

Drag and drop your PDF onto the converter window, or click the drop zone to browse for your file.

Click Convert to Word. Text-based PDFs convert instantly. Scanned or image-based PDFs use automatic text recognition (OCR), which may take a moment on the first run.

Your Word file downloads automatically. Click Convert Another File to convert a second PDF.
Tips
- Use Clean output to strip ads and menus from news articles and blog posts.
- PDF output works best on pages with standard text and images. Very complex page layouts may vary.
- Your license key is stored in the extension — you only need to enter it once per browser installation.
